(<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/en.unesco.org\/covid19\/educationresponse\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span lang=\"EN-CA\">https:\/\/en.unesco.org\/covid19\/educationresponse<\/span><\/a><span class=\"yiv1009110635MsoHyperlink\"><span lang=\"EN-CA\">)\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span lang=\"EN-CA\">\u00a0This means a reduction in learning outcomes and most probably, an increase in school drop outs, especially among girls.\u00a0 This is expected to translate into more than 7 million child marriages (\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unfpa.org\/sites\/default\/files\/resource-pdf\/COVID-19_impact_brief_for_UNFPA_24_April_2020_1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><span lang=\"EN-CA\">https:\/\/www.unfpa.org\/sites\/default\/files\/resource-pdf\/COVID-19_impact_brief_for_UNFPA_24_April_2020_1.pdf<\/span><\/a><span lang=\"EN-CA\">).\u00a0 The\u00a0<b><span class='tooltipsall tooltip_post_id_775 classtoolTips8'>Global Partnership for Education<\/span><\/b>\u00a0\u00a0is responding to the challenge.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<div elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"38a9c3f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-text-editor elementor-clearfix\">\n\t\t\t\tLack of education is an indicator of poverty.\u00a0 It is also a key factor in the intergenerational transmission of poverty.\u00a0 Fortunately, conversely, no child born of a literate mother will grow up illiterate.\n\nLack of education touches girls more than boys:\u00a0 girls are 50% more likely to never set foot in a classroom than boys\n\nSolutions are clear:\n<ul>\n \t<li>more classes and teachers<\/li>\n \t<li>teacher training<\/li>\n \t<li>latrines<\/li>\n \t<li>a special attention to girls<\/li>\n<\/ul>\nThe <a href=\"\/_sys\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/GPS-Education-GPE-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class='tooltipsall tooltip_post_id_775 classtoolTips8'>Global Partnership for Education<\/span><\/a> has a track record that can justify the international community\u2019s optimism with sharp increases in enrollment, in particular for girls.\u00a0 The <a href=\"\/_sys\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/The-International-Finance-Facility-for-Education-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class='tooltipsall tooltip_post_id_781 classtoolTips12'>Education Financing Facility<\/span><\/a> is being set up to take up a similar challenge in middle income countries where pockets of deep poverty persist.\u00a0 Unfortunately, the <a href=\"\/_sys\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/Canadian-Funding-for-Global-Education-2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class='tooltipsall tooltip_post_id_782 classtoolTips4'>Canadian contribution to global education<\/span><\/a>, in particular to <a href=\"\/_sys\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/01\/GPS-Update-on-Canadian-BasicEd-1.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class='tooltipsall tooltip_post_id_783 classtoolTips27'>basic education<\/span><\/a>, does not appear to be up to the challenge.\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-inner-section elementor-element elementor-element-27b7134
